Adventure, games and nature for the whole family
The Montelino adventure trail starts right at the mountain station of the Kohlmaisbahn cable car in Saalbach. What awaits families here is far more than just a walk in the mountains: it is an interactive nature adventure that immerses children in an imaginative world. The three-kilometre trail leads through forests and across meadows, past around 20 adventure stations.
The story behind the trail is easy to tell: Montelino, the little clown, has lost his toys and animal friends. Now it's up to the children to find them again on the trail. This involves puzzling, balancing, playing and, of course, lots of laughter.
Particularly popular with the kids: the petting zoo, the water stations, balancing ropes, creative playhouses and small theatre sets in the middle of the forest. There are also many cosy spots for a picnic with a panoramic view and the opportunity to engage with nature in a playful way.
The tour is easy to walk and is also suitable for pushchairs, making it ideal for families with children aged between 3 and 12.
Children experience the Montelino Trail as a great adventure where they can be active themselves. They help a clown, discover animals, slide, climb and marvel - all while learning about nature in a playful way.
This creates real moments of happiness: when the first puzzle is solved, when you dare to cross the balancing bridge or when the last stamp is pressed into the booklet. This mixture of movement, a sense of achievement and imagination makes the adventure trail a special place for families.
Practical tips for the perfect day out
The starting point is right next to the Kohlmaisbahn cable car - if you have accommodation with a JOKER CARD, you can take the cable car to the top station free of charge. Sturdy shoes and a small picnic in your rucksack are recommended. If you wish, you can pick up your stamp booklet at the valley station.
The adventure trail takes around two to three hours, depending on your pace. Ideal for a relaxed morning or afternoon. If you like, you can combine the day with a detour to the nearby adventure playground at the summit or an easy family hike back down to the valley.
