Winter Hiking

Snowflakes dance on the nose, tickling. With crystal clear air in the lungs, one relishes leaving tracks in the snow. One is permanently accompanied by the breathtaking mountain panorama.

Saalbach Hinterglemm from a different angle

Exploring is fun - not only on skis via modern lifts, but also on foot!

Winter hiking in the world-renowned ski resort is becoming increasingly popular. Numerous trails and paths lead holidaymakers to the most wonderful locations in the valley.
The Unterkofler family also enjoys the peace and tranquility of nature. It’s important to switch off from time to time, escape everyday life, and observe nature. Today, Daniela Unterkofler has agreed to share her favourite trails, where you can really enjoy nature and relax.

The spring sun is already melting the snow from the trees, birds are engaged in a chirping competition, and the path in front of us is winding gently along the sunny side of the valley. We are currently on the “Sonnseitpromenade” and are strolling towards “Schönleiten”. Behind us we can just about make out our last steps in the snow.

The “Sonnseitpromande” is a wonderful alternative to the paths in the valley itself. Located a few meters above the village, the promenade leads out of the valley. Small bridges, ancient trees, and the babbling of small brooks are constant companions of all adventurers. The trail basically starts right behind the eva,VILLAGE****S.

Fancy more mountain air? The “Reiterkogel” offers a splendid mountain trail for sport enthusiasts. In addition to a high-altitude path, the trail also boasts unique impressions. These moments are truly unforgettable! From the middle station of the “Reiterkogelbahn” one strolls towards the “Hochalm”. Should the stomach start to growl, the path is lined by a few huts offering regional delicacies.

Dani’s insider tip:

“The ‘Kaiserschmarren’ in the ‘Rosswaldhütte’ is an irresistible treat! Don’t miss out!”

Those seeking wintry peace and quiet, should consider exploring the valley head of Saalbach Hinterglemm. This romantic winter walk leads towards the end of the valley in a slight ascent. Always surrounded by an impressive hollow, one can really let the soul wander during this winter hike.

The journey is the reward - and leads directly to the Golden Gate Bridge and the “Baumzipfelweg”. The latter is Europe’s highest treetop trail. In lofty heights, one rises above all things and can enjoy a truly unique perspective.

The GREATEST asset is harmony within the soul, as is stated by “The Key to Serenity”. This harmony is what our guests experience during winter hikes in the Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang ski arena.
